Fairy Medicine Spray Cleaner

I found the following recipe on LearningHerbs.com and thought I’d give it a try.  It worked GREAT for cleaning the stove and countertops.  It was wonderful for cleaning the bathroom mirror.  I didn’t care for it on the bathroom tile because it stained the grout yellow and it also stained the walls yellow (not good in the bathroom :))  But I supposed if you rinsed it afterward it would probably be fine.  It did work exceptionally well when a sick little boy threw up on my front porch.  It cleaned the mess up AND got rid of the odor!

Plus, I love the fresh scent and knowing that I’m not using chemicals in my home.  🙂

Fairy Medicine Spray Cleaner

1 qt white vinegar

1 C thyme herb

1/2 t thyme essential oil

1/2 t lavender essential oil

Place white vinegar in a quart jar, add the thyme herb, cover with plastic wrap and screw the lid on tightly.  (Vinegar reacts with metal so be sure to use the plastic wrap.)  Let steep for 24 hours.  After 24 hours, strain off the plant matter (the color will be a sort of golden-red because of the flavenoids from the thyme herb).  Pour into a spray bottle (not metal) and add the essential oils.  Then screw on the cap, and shake it really well.

To use, spray directly on mold or mildew and then wipe with a clean rag.  Can be used on walls or windows.  Use on stoves and countertops – great for removing grease.  Great for general cleaning.
