I’ve been asked this question a lot lately because of the marketing campaign of other essential oil companies.  The answer, in short, is YES!  But what needs to be understood is that EOBBD is a regulation entitiy much like the FDA is a regulation entity.  When the EOBBD tests an oil in order to certify it as therapeutic grade, they only test for 4-6 compounds.  If the essential oil has those 4-6 compounds in the correct range, then the oil is certified and EOBBD approved.  However, at Butterfly Express, just because an oil is certified and approved by the EOBBD does NOT necessarily mean that it will meet our standards of quality.  We are very picky about our oils and also take into consideration:  environmental conditions, chemical additives, pesticide and insecticide use, and even harvest time, since these all affect the value of an essential oil.  Pesticides and insecticides can be used on a plant and other chemicals can be used when making an essential oil and it will still meet EEOBD testing standards!  So an essential oil that is EEOBD certified may still not be good enough for Butterfly Express.  🙂
